Little wins

Little wins

I always ask my clients for a small win. Something that’s gone well recently. That usually draws the blank stare, as you’d expect.

We were out shooting at sunrise (it was so cold!) and I saw this oportunity for a really cool shot. I wanted to evoke a feeling of victory or triumph with this photo, like a man would feel after a hard fought battle. I think it works.

Asking someone that who’s just lost their job after, 4, 14, 24 years doesn’t see a winner when they look in the mirror.

Doesn’t matter why the job ended, if they hated it, or they’re at least a little glad it’s over.

It’s still a loss, and a big one.

So I ask them for a win, something they’d otherwise think of as insignificant, but here, where they are, it’s a step up the mountain.

Somewhere, at the end of all the steps, there’s a summit. Another view. Vistas you cannot yet imagine.
